India 2013 Centenary of the Indian Science Congress

The Indian Post released on 3 January 2013, a stamp commemorating the centenary of the Indian Science Congress. The stamp features a youth peering at a growing flower through a magnifying glass, depicting youth examining growing science in India, and the double helical representation of DNA covers the background of the stamp.

Moldova 2012 George Emil Palade

Moldova released a set of 4 stamps on 27 August 2012 featuring renowned personalities, Geroge Emil Palade (19 November 1912 – 8 October 2008) being one of them. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine in 1974, together with Albert Claude and Christian de Duve, for his innovations in electron microscopy and cell fractionation which together laid the foundations of modern molecular cell biology, the most notable discovery being the ribosomes of the endoplasmic reticulum which he first described in 1955. Palade also received the U.S. National Medal of Science in Biological Sciences in 1986 for "pioneering discoveries of a host of fundamental, highly organized structures in living cells".

Czech Republic 2012 Gregor Johann Mendel

The Czech Republic released on 4 April 2012 a single stamp to commemorate the 190th anniversary of the birth of Gregor Johann Mendel, an Augustinian monk who pioneered the science of genetic inheritance.
