Israel 2013 Achievements in Cardiology
A set of 3 stamps commemorating Israeli achievements in the field of cardiology were released 2 April 2013. The first stamp features the percutaneous heart valve, this is used typically for replacement of heart valves, that is executed via a catheter introduced through the femoral artery or vein, instead of a dangerous open-chest intervention that would include a by-pass procedure. The second stamp features a stent that is inserted into arteries to keep blood vessels open. The third stamp features an implantable defibrillator.
